6. As religion is left behind, people find themselves in a spiritual vid... We cry out for meaning... Science you say will save us. Science, I say, has destroyed us.. We are a fractured and frantic species... moving down a path to destruction.
Science does not provide is with enough information ( it is limited to what it can explain) for the more phenomenal meaning is to turn to religion. Human beings need purpose and therefore it would point themselves in a spiritual journey to find God. It has become less common to adhere to formal religions. Religion is common there are growth to the religion of Christianity in Africa as well as Islam. Our beliefs have become more sophisticated as science is still new, whereas before science human beings constantly believed ( most still do believe) that God made the sun and everything that happens on earth came from a higher being, whereas now there are some mixed beliefs.
We cry out for many : Human beings are not heartless souls they do feel for other people around them whether it be the situation one is facing or feeling sad for people that are less lucky than us. All human beings go through existential angst ( finding out who they are) working out their own meaning in life and the truth trying to make sense of life. Most people cry out for many.
Science you say will save us, science can do many things but, it depends on what other people believe. Science can save a person in the point of medicine, science and religion has to co-exsist. Science can be used well such as creating new medicine and technology but, it could also be used poorly such as creating mission weaponry (ISIS and Extremist countries as well as Christianity).
7. Seen from a cosmic level, we on earth may well be puny and insignificant. But we are certainly not so unimportant when observed from our own level. From inside ourselves, we are the whole world. How can we reconcile these apparently contradictory existences: a warm internal with our own needs, emotions and desire, versus our alien external materialistic world?
A person can be seen as insignificant on this earth as it is very big. When it comes to how we view ourselves we see ourselves as an important part of this earth, we tend to view ourselves as a significant part of the solar system.
Larsen Explanation: Quote 7
The possibility that there is some sort of God looking down on us , we are very small in terms of size compared to the universe. Insignificant is something human beings questions. If there is a God it could give us some sense of significants. Human beings can sometimes feel insignificant, some might put others before themselves. A well rounded human being would not let the world evolve around them. Suggested that we suppress our needs and desires even though we cant control but learn to control our feelings. The outside world is not alienated. There is a spiritual dimension to our life.
